In 2008, Tessa started working in the legal services sector. She worked at a legal services office and then started working in the employment law field as a freelancer. Next to working in the legal services, she also has a passion for education. She has worked as a teacher in employment law at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and at the University of Applied Sciences Leiden. Tessa has been working at Maes Law since August 2021, where she deals with employment law and contractual issues.
Tessa likes to have variety in her work. For example, she also enjoys working with Legal Tech and regularly gives courses. Her work as a teacher was therefore a logical choice after she had gained years of experience in the employment law services. What she loves about her job are the contacts she has made. The bond she had with those she taught or assisted was so good, that she still speaks to them years later.
Tessa knows that emotions can obscure reality, and therefore she makes sure that people feel at ease during stressful situations and decisions. She stands for transparency; the client will not be faced with any surprises. She chooses to join Maes Law because the values of the firm and the way of working are a good fit. The pragmatic approach in combination with the high knowledge appeals to her.
In addition to her work at Maes Law, Tessa is involved in the Podcast 9 tot 5 and can be found on Clubhouse regularly. She is also involved in the alumni association of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where she also provides training.
